YOur Mission:

Build like a boss

You know what’s awesome? Design. Making stuff is the coolest! But all the cool things we use, see and wear don’t just appear out of nowhere - it takes a special kind of magic. Maker Brigade is here to help you explore all the possibilities. Let’s get inventing!

Summer Camps!

WE’RE BACK!

Maker Brigade is back this summer with four weeks of all new building, tinkering and programming projects! We’re expanding this year to make space for more age specific projects. Below you’ll find a list of all four weeks of programming.

BUILD BIG! Ages 5-8: June 17th-21st This week will be all about structure and how we can engineer stronger forts, huts and lawn games. We'll spend the morning learning important techniques and the afternoon creating structures for play.

OUTDOOR MAKING! Ages 5-8: June 24th-28th How can you take advantage of a beautiful summer day as a maker? Why by building contraptions, conducting experiments and launching rockets! In this week long camp, we’ll explore ways to enjoy our natural world through making.

RESPECT WOOD! Ages 8-11: July 8th-12th This week is all about the different ways you can work with wood. Kids will learn how to measure, cut, and join together pieces to make their own projects. They'll also explore wood carving with small figurines and utensils.

WHAT MAKES UP A ROBOT? Ages 8-11: July 15th-19th What makes a robot a robot?During this week students will explore the different components that make up robots and how they can be used to create unique devices.

This is my fifth year as a maker educator after working in technology for several years before that. I have a BFA in Fine Art from Pitzer College (CA), an MFA in Design and Technology from Parsons School of Design (NY) and a teaching credential from Notre Dame du Namur University (CA). Before switching to education I was a User Experience Designer at a number of well known agencies and educational technology startups. I spent three years at Woodside Elementary building a maker program from the ground up and am now thrilled to be on the coast building the Design & Innovation program at Sea Crest School in Half Moon Bay. My family and I live in Montara and we can't get enough of the Coastside!
